Your service means everything to our patients.

We appreciate your interest in volunteering at Mercy Hospital and your willingness to give back to your community. Volunteering at Mercy Hospital provides a wonderful service to our patients, families and community. We continually seek dedicated and passionate volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talents to make Mercy the best it can be.

As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a group of compassionate individuals committed to carrying on the traditions of Mercy Hospital. Your support will help our health care professionals provide excellent service to our patients. As a volunteer, you may serve in many different patient care, administrative and ancillary areas.

Volunteers are present in almost every area of the hospital, including the Emergency Department, ICU waiting rooms, Information Desks, Mercy Children's Hospital, NICU, Burn Unit, Mercy Heart and Vascular Hospital, David C. Pratt Cancer Center, the Gift Shop and Mercy off-site locations.

Volunteer opportunities include everything from greeting visitors, cuddling a little one in the NICU, assisting our health care team on patient care units or volunteering in the Mercy Gift Shop.

Volunteering at Mercy Hospital is a unique and rewarding opportunity. In addition to the satisfaction of making a difference, volunteers are invited to an appreciation luncheon and brunch each year and have the same discounts as Mercy co-workers. Mercy volunteers are also given a $5 meal card each day to use in the cafeteria, Smoothie Bar or Coffee Shop.

Hospitality Volunteer Opportunities

Mercy Hospital is recruiting hospitality volunteers to warmly welcome and compassionately assist our patient, visitors, and families. These volunteers support the Mercy community through service in the Heart Hospital, Main Hospital, Intensive Care waiting room and doctor’s buildings. The hospitality volunteer role may include:

  • Greeting and welcoming patients, families and visitors arriving at Mercy Hospital
  • Looking up patient room numbers using the computer
  • Looking up physician office locations using a directory or computer
  • Delivering mail, books, newspapers or other comfort items to patients
  • Providing directions around Mercy Hospital

Hospitality volunteers are scheduled for a four hour shift, during the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities at Mercy Hospital, please call 314-251-6180.
