Mercy Clinic El Reno welcomes Joseph King, M.D. – a 25-year veteran in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. King followed in his family’s footsteps, graduating from his hometown’s Meharry Medical College.
“I’m a third generation medical professional – both my father and grandfather chose health care as a career,” Dr. King said. “Their example inspired me to pursue a medical degree.”
A 1981 graduate, Dr. King completed his internship and residency at Saint John Hospital and has practiced in Georgia, Midwest City and Edmond.
Dr. King performs comprehensive obstetrics and gynecological care and is concerned with his patients’ overall wellness.
“When it comes to women’s health care in general, they may come to me with something that’s not necessarily an OB/GYN problem,” said Dr. King. “But I believe it’s my job to get them into the right hands for appropriate treatment.”
For women, health care can often present unique challenges with a wide range of needs. Dr. King has extensive experience in every area – from childbearing to menopause – and offers treatment relevant to women of all ages.
“I see quite a few older patients referred from their family doctors,” Dr. King said. “Sometimes they hear ‘obstetrician’ and forget there’s gynecology, too. We do more than just deliver babies. We do surgery, we do office work and we know where to send people with other health issues.”
Bringing a personal approach to healing, Dr. King hopes to share that philosophy with his patients at the Mercy Clinic in El Reno.
“Using my knowledge of medicine is the quickest way I know to help someone in need,” said Dr. King. “I value the patient/physician relationship. When you come to see me, I won’t just hear the words you say. I promise to listen and respond to the best of my ability.”
Dr. King welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance – including Medicaid and Medicare – at Mercy Clinic El Reno, 2315 Parkview Drive. To schedule an appointment with Dr.King, call (405) 295-2200.
