Dr. Joseph Kahn, pediatrician and president of Mercy Children’s Hospital Services, was recently named chairman of Mercy Health East Communities board of directors effective July 1, 2012, for a three-year term.
Roger Steinbecker, a retired managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, was named chairman of Mercy Hospitals East Communities board of directors effective July 1, 2012, for a three-year term. Steinbecker will also serve as vice chairman of the Mercy Health East Communities board of directors.
The two roles, previously one position held by John Arnold, were created to better reflect the evolution of Mercy in the east Missouri region.
“As Mercy continues to evolve and expand our presence in east Missouri to better serve our growing region, we are honored to have Dr. Kahn and Mr. Steinbecker serve in these important roles within our governance structure ,” said Donn Sorensen, president of Mercy East Communities. “Each brings exceptional experience and a deep commitment to Mercy and their communities to their new roles as board chairmen.”
Kahn, a board member since 2008, has been a pediatrician on Mercy’s medical staff for more than 25 years, serving in many roles during that time. He has helped grow and bring awareness to Mercy Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and is now leading children’s services across Mercy.
Steinbecker has been on the board since 2005. He chaired the finance committee and is currently chair of the community outreach co-worker committee. He has been a member of the Mercy Hospital St. Louis board of directors since 2008 and is actively involved in Mercy Health Foundation St. Louis activities including the Benefit for the Kids and the Mercy Center for Autism.
