JOPLIN, Mo. - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Mercy Joplin has created special t-shirts that are being sold to help raise money for the Mercy Health Foundation Joplin. Shirts are $25 each and 100% of the proceeds go to help fund mammograms for women who can’t afford them. The Foundation funds free or low cost mammograms for those who qualify so that every woman has the screening necessary to protect them from this deadly disease.
According to cancer.org, in 2009, 40,676 women and 400 men in the United States died from breast cancer. Only lung cancer accounts for more cancer deaths in women. This is a startling number, but early detection is one of the best ways to fight this disease and win.
This year’s “Pink is my signature color” shirts are available for purchase at two locations:
Mercy Medical Supply, 3120 South Main, Suite 10, Joplin. 417-627-8424.
Mercy Breast Center, 1905 W. 32nd Street, Suite 208, Joplin, MO. 417-625-2273
