on behalf of Mercy co-workers

On March 6, Mercy Hospital Fort Scott co-workers were recognized by the United Way of Bourbon County, Kan. with the “Over the Top Award” for a significant increase in the amount pledged to the agency for the 2014 calendar year.

During a fall 2013 campaign called Mercy Way, Mercy Fort Scott co-workers pledged $11,742 to support the United Way of Bourbon County.  The 2014 amount more than doubles the amount donated by Mercy co-workers to the agency in 2013.

Mercy co-workers were asked to either make a personal lump sum contribution earmarked for the 2014 calendar year, or pledge a portion of their pay check during 2014 to support the United Way.

“The award isn’t about Mercy as a place, it’s about the meaning of mercy,” said Linda Noll, Mercy’s Executive Director of Human Resources.  “It’s about an expression of kindness and compassion regardless of situational context.”

“Mercy co-workers tend to be silent doers; those who want to make a difference but seldom want the recognition. This award is a beautiful recognition for Mercy because it demonstrates the will of our co-workers to support those agencies in Bourbon County that offer vital program and services for the people we care for.”
