Dr. Elizabeth Lambird

She may have grown up in Lebanon – the country – but Buffalo’s newest doctor considers the Ozarks her home. Dr. Elizabeth Lambird is now accepting new patients at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Buffalo.

Dr. Lambird’s family spent the first 15 years of her life as Baptist missionaries in Beirut, Lebanon. Her time there inspired her to become a doctor. “In the reading room of the language center my parents had was a series of ‘Jungle Doctor’ books by Dr. Paul White, based on his experiences as a missionary doctor in Tanzania, Africa. Those were an inspiration. Plus, my grandmother was a nurse and a real prayer warrior and she strongly influenced me to join the medical field as a way of serving the Lord.”

From Beirut, life has taken her to Wichita, Kansas, back to Springfield for her husband’s education, and then to Kansas City where she earned her degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences before opening her own practice.

It’s probably no surprise that traveling is one of Dr. Lambird’s passions, along with reading and singing; she says one of the best parts of traveling is coming home again – which she has accomplished with this latest move. “Our kids are raised and on their own and now I’m back where I have a lot of family. I’m a family doctor to my soul and my passion is bariatrics. I know weight issues cause so many health concerns and it’s rewarding to be able to help patients with one thing and be able to improve their overall health.”

Mercy Clinic – Buffalo is located at 118 W. Dallas St. in Buffalo, Missouri. To make an appointment with Dr. Lambird, just call (417) 345-6101.
