Dr. Mahmoud Halawa joins Lebanon’s only pediatric clinic

September 3, 2019

Mercy Lebanon is committed to providing exceptional care to children in the area, and it’s brought in a new Mercy Kids doctor who’s taking new patients. Dr. Mahmoud Halawa, MD recently joined Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Lebanon and looks forward to doing his part to serve the local community.

“A child’s passion in life is genuine, their honesty in interactions is refreshing and the smiles on their faces are priceless,” Dr. Halawa said. “My goal is to see my patients laugh and live happily.”

From a young age, Dr. Halawa was driven to help people live a better life. This desire is why he decided study medicine at the Benha Medical School in Benha, Egypt. After earning his degree, Dr. Halawa completed his residency training in pediatrics at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

While Dr. Halawa’s passion for traveling brought him to the United States, the midwestern hospitality and sensibility encouraged him to settle in Lebanon. In addition to exploring new places, Dr. Halawa enjoys cooking. “I am a very good cook,” Dr. Halawa said. “I enjoy spending time at home cooking food and invite my friends for gatherings or do outdoor barbecue.”

Dr. Halawa joins his fellow Mercy Kids providers at Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Lebanon, including Drs. Caroline Campbell, John Hopkins, and Akbar Khan. The practice also includes family nurse practitioner Michael Cheeney.

A new service starting October 1, is “come on in” to Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Lebanon Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. There is no need to call ahead – just “come on in.”
