April 19, 2024

Mercy Health Foundation in Ada recently named Shana Wood executive director. Wood, a lifelong Ada resident, brings 25 years of experience and connections to a position that will bolster ongoing and future foundation projects aimed at bettering community health services.

“I’ve lived in this area my entire life and am proud to call it home. Ada is a community that always comes together to take care of and support its people,” said Wood. “As I join Mercy, I look forward to meeting critical needs in new ways and contributing to important projects that will make a difference in the lives of real people.”

Wood previously worked as president of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and Foundation, where she cultivated partnerships with government agencies, local businesses and non-profit organizations. Prior to that, she worked as a senior account manager for the Oklahoma Blood Institute where she fostered relationships with leaders in 15 southeastern Oklahoma communities. For the past five years, Wood has also served on the board of directors for the Mercy Health Foundation in Ada since 2019.

“When you look at our community health statistics, there are a lot of different needs. Mercy has shown great dedication to this community and provides a level of care, professionalism and expertise we are lucky to have,” said Wood. “We are focused on and committed to improving access and bringing services close to home so patients don’t have to travel for care.”

Mercy Health Foundation in Ada has raised a total of $40 million to improve care and access over the last 13 years. One of the most recently completed projects was a four-year refresh and renovation of the labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms for families. The Mercy foundation fundraised the entire $1.23 million project.

Upcoming projects include a potential emergency department expansion, cancer care expansion, a second cardiac catheterization lab and an outpatient imaging center, all funded through donor dollars.

“A key part of foundation work is good relationships. Shana has a track record of cultivating and maintaining important relationships, demonstrated through her prior hard work with the chamber, that will allow her to support future projects,” said Terence Farrell, president of Mercy Hospital Ada. “We are confident she will be a good steward of the funds we raise and open new doors to our foundation, helping us continue to expand care access in the region for a healthier Oklahoma.”
