Mercy is opening a new 65 Prime Plus clinic in south St. Louis geared toward Medicare patients age 65 and older. This is the second such clinic Mercy has opened in the last two months, the third in the St. Louis region and fourth across the entire Mercy health system.
The care team with 65 Prime Plus provides an expanded primary care experience with three physicians: Dr. Molly Ehlman, Dr. Carolyn Koenig and Dr. Marina Russell. The clinic’s staff devote more time and attention to patients during each appointment, and schedule more frequent appointments to ensure they have plenty of time to discuss their health care needs and address any potential issues before problems arise.
“Spending time and getting to know our patients is essential to providing excellent primary care,” Dr. Ehlman said. “This is particularly true for our older patients who often require more attention to fully understand all the different things going on with their health. They may have several ongoing health conditions, multiple medications to sort out and illnesses that impact older patients differently than younger ones. We’re able to better address all those needs with this senior-focused approach.”
65 Prime Plus by Mercy – South City is located at 3915 Watson Road, Suite 100B in St. Louis. It will provide:
- Flu shots and other immunizations
- Medicare annual wellness visits
- General medical evaluations and wellness exams
- Treatment for a number of health conditions, including:
- Diabetes
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Incontinence
- Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and early memory loss
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
The clinic’s care team works together with the patient during and between visits to coordinate all aspects of care. That could include referrals to specialists, therapists or other providers, setting up tests or procedures, obtaining prescriptions and medical equipment and making sure patients receive preventive care, such as immunizations, lab tests and cancer screenings.
