TISHOMINGO, Okla. – Excellence has become routine at Mercy Hospital Tishomingo, which was recognized as being among America’s top 20 critical access hospitals for the fourth straight year.
The National Rural Health Association named it as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for Best Practice in Quality this year. The hospital earned the same recognition from 2021-23 and for six of the last seven years overall.
“All of our neighbors in Tishomingo benefit from some of the most skilled and dedicated caregivers anywhere in America,” said Lori McMillin, hospital administrator. “An award like this is a testament to the hard work and compassionate care our team delivers every day. I’m so proud of the work they do and that it continues to be recognized nationally.”
It’s not easy to wind up on the top 20 list. Hospitals are graded on datasets like care quality, patient outcomes, patient perspectives, cost and more.
Critical access hospitals are certified by Medicare and are part of a rural health care safety net. The hospitals provide around-the-clock emergency care to rural areas and receive cost-based Medicare reimbursement.
