The A grade and 5-star Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rating gives Mercy Hospital Ada the highest-possible scores in two of the most important metrics for hospital quality and safety.

Leapfrog rates hospitals on an A-F grading scale after reviewing more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“Achieving an A Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Mercy, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”

Nine additional Mercy hospitals have earned the highest rating including in Ardmore and Oklahoma City in Oklahoma. Other Mercy hospitals with the top grade are in Arkansas (Fort Smith, Northwest Arkansas), Kansas (Pittsburg) and Missouri (Jefferson, Lebanon, Springfield and Washington).

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. To learn more about these grades, visit HospitalSafetyGrade.org.
