Q. Did you always know you wanted to be a health care provider?
A. I gained an interest in health care during high school. It wasn't until college that I really took an interest in nursing, as there was a demand for nurses as well as the vast possibilities in the field of nursing.
Q. What drew you to general surgery?
A. It wasn't until I started working in surgery as a nurse that I knew that's the area I enjoyed the most. There were several different specialties that you could observe in the operating room. During that time is when my interest was drawn toward general surgery the most because of the multiple different procedures they would do. That's when I decided I wanted to become a nurse practitioner. From there, I was able to get employed as a nurse practitioner for a general surgeon, and was able to assist in surgery as well as see patients in the office.
Q. What is your favorite thing about your job?
A. There are numerous things that I like about my job. The most favorite part of my job is office procedures and assisting in surgery.
