Mercy Names Gouge Head Team Physician at Lindenwood

July 25, 2025

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Mercy Sports Medicine’s Dr. Tyler Gouge has been named head team physician for Lindenwood University. Dr. Gouge has been part of the Lindenwood health care team since Mercy became the school’s official medical provider for sports medicine and student health in February 2024.

“As an integral part of Mercy Sports Medicine, Dr. Gouge has shown his commitment to the overall care and well-being of the Lindenwood athletes,” said Dr. Brian Mahaffey, director of Mercy Sports Medicine. “Our partnership with Lindenwood will continue to be a strong part of our commitment to the athletic communities in St. Charles, St. Louis and the surrounding area.”

The Mercy care team at Lindenwood includes nine sports medicine physicians and surgeons. Dr. Gouge will coordinate care between the Mercy team and the Lindenwood athletic department to ensure complete care for student-athletes.

“Becoming head team physician for Lindenwood is a great honor,” Dr. Gouge said. “It’s extremely rewarding to treat our athletes when they're injured or ill, get them back to play safely and then witness that first game back in action.”

Dr. Gouge has roots in St. Charles County, where he was born and raised in New Melle, and where his parents still live. He was involved in sports throughout childhood and served as captain of both the ice and roller hockey teams at Francis Howell High School.

Dr. Gouge started with Mercy working primarily in Lebanon, Missouri, before returning the St. Louis region in 2023.

"I loved living in St. Charles County, and now my wife and I feel it’s an ideal place to raise a family,” Dr. Gouge said. “It’s nice to be back and close to family and friends, especially since our first son just turned 6 months old.”

Mercy Sports Medicine providers care for all needs from youth sports and weekend warriors to college athletes and professionals. Learn more about Dr. Gouge or schedule an appointment here.
