Children’s Mercy with Mercy will mark a major milestone for the O’Reilly Pediatric Center with a beam raising event on Tuesday, May 12. Community leaders, care team members, supporters and families will have the opportunity to sign the ceremonial beam before it is lifted into place—marking continued progress on a new dedicated pediatric outpatient facility designed specifically for children and families in southwest Missouri.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see this vision come to life. Every milestone brings us closer to a space designed entirely around kids and families,” said Debbie Schwartzkopf, DNP, RN, CPHQ, Chief Administrative Officer, Children’s Mercy with Mercy. “By joining forces with Mercy Springfield Communities, we’re expanding access to trusted pediatric expertise in the region.”
The O’Reilly Pediatric Center is being built on Mercy’s South campus in Springfield and will bring Mercy Primary Pediatrics and Children’s Mercy pediatric specialists together under one roof, providing a centralized location for comprehensive pediatric services. The two-story, 40,000-square-foot outpatient center reflects the shared commitment of Children’s Mercy and Mercy Springfield Communities to improve access, care delivery and care coordination.
“Partnering with Children’s Mercy, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals, means we can bring even more pediatric expertise to the children and families we serve,” said John Myers, President of Mercy Springfield Communities. “Together, we’re connecting care teams and coordinating services so families in Springfield and across the region can access exceptional pediatric care closer to home.”
The construction milestone also reflects strong community support behind the project, including a lead gift from the O’Reilly family to help bring the center to life.
“When we heard about Mercy’s and Children’s Mercy’s efforts to enhance pediatric care for kids, we knew we wanted to be involved and help create a generational change for children in our community,” said Larry O’Reilly. “This clinic will make it easier for kids to access a range of specialists, and its design and functionality will be built around their needs. We hope every family who walks through these doors feels supported, seen and surrounded by people who are here for their child.”
Children’s Mercy is already providing management for a wide range of hospital-based pediatric services in Springfield, including pediatric inpatient care, PICU, NICU, pediatric surgery, pediatric emergency care and additional pediatric therapies and support services.
Pediatric specialty outpatient services will include:
Cardiology
Endocrinology

The O’Reilly Pediatric Center will be located at 6375 S. Innovation Avenue in Springfield. Construction is scheduled to be completed later this year with an anticipated opening in December 2026.
