Cardinals Kids Cancer Center

Mercy Kids and Young Adult Cardinals Cancer Center is the pediatric oncology and hematology center at Mercy Children's Hospital St. Louis. We provide more than 4,000 treatments to pediatric patients each year. Childhood is about laughter, giggles and play. Cancer doesn’t have to take all that away. We give childhood back to kids and give families hope.

Mercy’s Kids and Young Adult Cardinals Cancer Center has a welcoming, pediatric‑friendly play area with toys designed for imaginative play.

These services are imbedded into this pediatric program to meet the needs of the whole patient:

  • social worker
  • counseling services
  • education specialist
  • tutor
  • facility dog
  • art therapy
  • music therapy
  • horticultural therapy

The Cardinals-themed Mercy Clinic Children's Cancer and Hematology in St. Louis, MO is designed with a look and feel reminiscent of Busch Stadium. The unique child-centered environment disguises pediatric cancer care as play and adds an element of fun to a difficult day of treatment for young patients and their families. Mercy developed the Cardinals Kids Cancer Center thanks to a combined challenge gift of $1 million from David Pratt and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cardinals Young Adult Cancer Program

Alongside our pediatric services, Mercy offers the Cardinals Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program, one of only two dedicated AYA programs in the St. Louis region.

AYAs in our program receive comprehensive, age‑relevant support addressing emotional and psychological needs, financial considerations, fertility concerns as well as education and career support. Our oncologists have experience in caring for patients navigating cancer during this pivotal stage of life.

AYA patients with children may use the pediatric play area for their family, ensuring they are supported in all aspects of their life throughout treatment.
