ST. LOUIS - On June 26, 2006, we opened the first hospital in St. Louis dedicated exclusively to heart and vascular care. Over the last 20 years, we’ve brought compassionate care and new technologies to our patients. We were among the first in the area to offer transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), the WATCHMAN device for atrial fibrillation (AFib), CardioMEMS for heart failure and a cardiology hospitalist program.
But what means more than anything to us is hearing from the patients we’ve served over the years.
We saved Scott Stubblefield 10 years ago when he suffered two heart attacks and required eight stents. At the time, his boys were just 16, 14 and 10 years old.
His wife Melissa shared, “Thanks to the extraordinary care he received at Mercy Heart Hospital – from cardiologists Drs. [Tim] Schloss, [Lou] Dean (retired) and [Bruce] Czarnik, as well as [late] ED physician Dr. Christopher Bosche – his life was saved.
Today, a decade later, Scott is thriving. He has been able to be present for so many important milestones in our sons’ lives, moments we might have otherwise missed. Major milestones he was able to witness include Eagle Scout achievement, three high school graduations, two college graduations with our youngest a junior in college.
He even started working out to improve his health and functional movement and longevity. At almost 70, Scott reduced his body fat 24%, lost 35 lbs. and increased muscle by 20%. We are forever grateful for the exceptional doctors, advanced practice providers and nurses whose lifesaving care and compassion have brought us to this point.”
