Helping kids maintain a healthy weight isn’t about diets or numbers on a scale. At Mercy Kids Weight and Wellness Clinic, we focus on your child’s overall health and lifestyle, including their nutrition, exercise, sleep and emotional well-being.

Our care is designed to treat childhood obesity. Our team includes a board-certified obesity medicine specialist, a bariatric surgeon, a dietitian and other professionals with expertise in helping kids manage their weight. If surgery is an option, our surgical weight loss experts support you and your child every step of the way.

Kids Weight and Wellness Services

We care for kids and teens ages 6 to 18 with a BMI at or above the 95th percentile. Personalized treatment plans are tailored to your child’s unique needs after initial evaluation. Levels of care include:

• Tier 1: Lifestyle and behavioral support for minimal needs
• Tier 2: Prescription medication* and management for moderate needs
• Tier 3: Comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for bariatric surgery candidates

*If medication isn’t preferred, holistic health information can be provided.

At all levels of care, follow-up visits are essential to helping your child achieve their health and weight loss goals.

Our clinic has dedicated exam rooms that promote comfort, privacy and open conversation. Our Befour Opti-Height Scale measures your child’s height and weight at the same time, then quickly calculates their BMI.

Referral Information

Talk with your child’s pediatrician or primary care team about any weight-related concerns. Your child’s doctor will let you know if a weight management evaluation is appropriate. Our services are by physician referral only. Video visits are also available.
