ADA, Okla. — Mercy Hospital Ada has once again earned an A grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog committed to health care transparency.
Ada’s grade for fall 2024 is the hospital’s third consecutive A from Leapfrog.
Nationwide, only 30% of hospitals achieved an A grade from Leapfrog this fall. In Oklahoma, Mercy Hospital Ada and Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City stand out as two of only 13 hospitals to receive this distinction.
“The mark of a great hospital isn’t just getting a high safety grade like this, but earning it consistently year after year,” said Daryle Voss, president of Mercy Southern Oklahoma Communities. “We’re also among the 8% of hospitals nationwide to have a 5-star rating for top quality from the federal government. Excellence like this is something everyone in Ada should be proud of.”
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said it’s a significant accomplishment.
“It reflects enormous dedication to patients and their families, and the whole community should be proud,” said Binder. “I extend my congratulations to Mercy Hospital Ada, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the nation’s only rating system focused exclusively on preventing medical errors, infections and injuries that lead to more than 500 patient deaths each day. Leapfrog assigns letter grades (A-F) to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
