OKLAHOMA CITY — The honors keep rolling in for Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, which Newsweek recently ranked on its annual list of America's Best Hospitals for Specialized Care.
The national magazine named the hospital to its America’s Best list for endocrine and neurological care. The only other Oklahoma City-area facility on the list is Oklahoma Heart Hospital — co-owned by its physicians and Mercy — for cardiac care.
“It’s a tremendous honor for our caregivers that Mercy is on this list, but we recognize it’s just what happens when we’re serious about our mission of delivering compassionate care,” said Dr. Lance Watson, Mercy’s chief medical officer. “We work diligently to care for our patients with dignity and respect. When the data shows we’re among the best at what we do, it only encourages us to drive patient care forward for all of our neighbors.”
Newsweek Data
Newsweek used four data points to compile its 2026 list of top hospitals for specialized care: hospital quality metrics, a nationwide online survey, patient experience surveys and a Statista implementation survey.
The data is pulled from public sources and recommendations from leading healthcare professionals across many specialties.
Two Mercy hospitals in Missouri also made the list: Mercy Hospital Springfield (gastrointestinal) and Mercy Hospital St. Louis (cancer, cardiac, children’s neurological, children’s oncology, children’s orthopedics, endocrine, gastrointestinal, orthopedics and pulmonology).
In April, Newsweek also named Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City as Oklahoma’s top maternity hospital.
Mercy in Oklahoma City
The foundation of Mercy’s everyday endocrine care in Oklahoma City is the state’s largest endocrinology practice at Mercy Clinic Endocrinology – Quailbrook. The care extends to inpatient services across the Kilpatrick Turnpike at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City.
Mercy’s physicians and other providers in the specialty treat disorders of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands, plus the testes, ovaries and pancreas.
Adjacent to the main hospital is the Meinders NeuroScience Institute, home to the largest and most complete team of neuroscience specialists between St. Louis and Phoenix.
Along with a new CT imaging machine in the hospital’s Emergency Department, the specialized care has propelled Mercy to the No. 1 rank nationally in door-to-needle time for stroke patients, ensuring they receive the fastest possible care at a time when every second counts.
The institute also includes the Meinders Center for Movement Disorders, which treats complex neurological conditions that can cause involuntary and excess movement, impaired balance and coordination issues like muscle rigidity and slow movement.
Newsweek recently ranked Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City among the world’s best hospitals. The hospital also has a Straight A grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group and will soon open the Kathryn Ann Meinders Digestive Health Institute on its campus, the only healthcare facility of its kind within a 500-mile drive.
