Benefits of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
If you have a history or risk of heart or lung disease, cardiopulmonary rehab can help you lead a more active life. Our medically supervised cardiac (heart) and pulmonary (lung) rehab programs are tailored to your specific needs. Specially trained nurses and other professionals support you every step of the way.
Our rehab gym features heart-strengthening machines and the latest resistance-training equipment. It’s located inside the hospital, so advanced care is always nearby.
Our cardiac rehabilitation program is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our team is trained in advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), and our hospital has emergency medical equipment available.
Cardiac rehab may be right for you if you’ve had any of the following symptoms, conditions or procedures:
- Chest pain
- Heart attack
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Heart valve surgery
- Heart transplantation
- Balloon angioplasty & stent placement
- Heart failure
The first phase of cardiac rehab is inpatient. At Mercy Cardiopulmonary Rehab - Perryville, our program serves patients ready for phases II and III:
- Phase II – Outpatient rehab that includes heart monitoring, education and exercise therapy to increase your activity level
- Phase III – A maintenance phase that helps you maintain your exercise program and develop lifelong health habits
If you have cardiac risk factors but no history of heart disease, you may go directly into phase III.
Pulmonary rehab may be right for you if you’ve had any of the following:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Lung cancer
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Lung transplant
