Mercy Breaks Ground on New Emergency Department
Mercy began construction on Springfield’s south side to improve emergency care access. The new, full-service emergency department will be located at 3050 E. River Bluff Drive, in Ozark, and attached to Mercy’s orthopedic hospital. The new ED will only be about eight miles from the current Springfield emergency department.
While plans for the emergency department are still evolving, the new emergency facility is estimated to include the following:
- 17,256 square feet of space
- 11 beds
- Trauma room
- Isolation room
- Patient holding rooms and more
Olsson will serve as the civil engineer on the project, REES has been brought on as the primary architect, and Northstar Management Co. will serve as the project manager. The build will cost $32 million and be completed in early 2025.
